Location: London, NW1
Salary: £50,000 base salary with the potential to earn up to £56,600 through bonuses
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent (40 hours per week – flexible rota management required)
Priority Recruitment are excited to present a rare opportunity for an experienced Registered Manager to lead the re-opening of an existing children’s residential home in the NW1 area of London.
This role is ideal for a confident Registered Manager or a strong senior leader with 2–3 years’ management experience, who is motivated by the challenge of stabilising, shaping, and developing a home from re-opening through to a positive Ofsted outcome.
Salary & Benefits:
- Base salary £50,000, OTE up to £56,600
- 32 days annual leave including bank holidays
- Increases by 1 additional day per year for the first 3 years
- Ofsted bonus:
- £3,000 for Outstanding
- £1,500 for Good
- Occupancy bonus: £300 per month (once fully occupied)
- Company car or travel allowance of £3,000 per annum
- Government workplace pension (available after probation)
- On-call responsibilities included within salary and rarely required

Main Purpose of the Role:
The Registered Manager will be responsible for the safe re-opening, leadership, and day-to-day management of the children’s home, ensuring all regulatory requirements are met and the home is fully prepared for inspection.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the re-opening process and establishing robust care, safeguarding, and operational standards
- Ensuring the home operates fully in line with Children’s Homes Regulations and Ofsted requirements
- Delivering high-quality, trauma-informed care focused on positive outcomes for young people
- Recruiting, supervising, mentoring, and developing a stable staff team
- Organising staff rotas and ensuring appropriate staffing levels at all times
- Working closely with external agencies, professionals, and stakeholders
- Preparing the home for Ofsted inspection and achieving a positive first outcome
The Registered Manager is contracted for 40 hours per week and is responsible for arranging their own rota, which may include occasional evening, weekend, or night-time duties to meet the needs of the home.
Successful Applicant:
- Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a senior leadership role within children’s residential care
- Experience supporting young people with emotional and behavioural needs
- NVQ Level 5 in Leadership & Management
- NVQ Level 3 in Caring for Children and Young People (minimum)
- Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills
- Sound knowledge of:
- Children Act 1989
- Care Standards Act 2000
- Children’s Homes Regulations
- Safeguarding procedures
- No disciplinary history or failed Fit Person declarations
- Able to gain approval from the appropriate statutory body
Additional Information:
- Six-month probationary period
- Three months’ notice required on either side (excluding disciplinary matters)
- Role subject to an enhanced DBS check
