Job Title: Housing Support Worker

Location: Coventry
Salary: £29,000 per annum
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: 40 hours per week
Working Pattern: 5 days out of 7 (rota-based, including weekends & bank holidays)
Shifts: 8-hour shifts between 8am and 8pm (rotating pattern)
Start Date: ASAP
Driving Requirement: Full UK Driving Licence & Access to Own Vehicle (Essential)

 

About the Role

This is a rewarding opportunity to support adults experiencing homelessness and multiple disadvantage, helping them rebuild stability, independence, and confidence through a trauma-informed and strength-based approach.

You will be part of a structured, accommodation-based support pathway, working with individuals who may be facing challenges related to mental health, substance misuse, offending history, or other complex barriers to daily living. The role focuses on long-term outcomes, tenancy sustainment, and empowering individuals to move forward positively.

The service operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and we are seeking flexible, committed professionals who can support the delivery of the coverage promised to the local authority.

Working Hours & Flexibility (Important)

  • 40 hours per week
  • Worked across 5 days out of 7, on a rotating rota
  • Includes weekend and bank holiday working
  • Shifts are 8 hours, scheduled between 8am and 8pm
  • The service runs 24/7, 365 days a year, so flexibility is essential

 

Support Delivery Responsibilities

  • Build trusting, trauma-informed relationships with residents
  • Create meaningful, realistic and outcomes-focused support plans
  • Identify, assess and manage risks through structured assessments
  • Proactively support residents to overcome barriers to independence
  • Maintain high safeguarding standards and follow local procedures
  • Accurately record all engagement, support plans and risk assessments using digital systems
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies including mental health, substance misuse, criminal justice and community services
  • Deliver 1:1 and group-based support to develop independent living skills
  • Manage a varied caseload and ensure consistent, purposeful engagement
  • Provide non-judgemental, harm-reduction support where required
  • Act as a positive role model, encouraging residents to set and achieve personal goals

 

Intensive Housing Management

  • Support referral processing and initial assessments
  • Assist residents with tenancy documentation and expectations
  • Support rent management and coach residents in financial responsibility
  • Provide guidance on budgeting, benefits and money management
  • Conduct regular accommodation checks and ensure health & safety compliance
  • Support residents to develop tenancy sustainment and independent living skills
  • Contribute to positive, planned move-on outcomes

 

Successful Applicant Profile

  • Experience supporting adults facing homelessness or multiple disadvantage
  • Background in accommodation-based services, tenancy management or housing support
  • Strong trauma-informed and strengths-based practice
  • Experience writing and managing support plans and risk assessments
  • Sound safeguarding knowledge and confident practice
  • Comfortable working with complex behaviours in a non-risk-averse environment
  • Understanding of best-practice approaches such as ACEs and trauma-informed care
  • Confident using digital systems, record-keeping and ICT
  • Strong communication skills when working with multi-agency partners
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
