Job Title: Complex Needs Support Worker

Location: Coventry
Salary: £29,000 per annum
Contract Type: Full-Time
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Start Date: ASAP
Driving Requirement: Full UK Licence + Own Vehicle (Essential)

 

This is a rewarding opportunity to support adults experiencing homelessness and multiple disadvantage, helping them rebuild stability, independence, and confidence through a trauma-informed and strength-based approach.

 

You will be part of a structured support pathway, working with individuals who may be experiencing challenges related to mental health, substance misuse, offending history, or other complex barriers to daily living. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful, long-term impact while contributing to the development of an outcomes-focused service.

Support Delivery:

  • Build trusting, trauma-informed relationships with residents
  • Create meaningful, realistic and outcomes-focused support plans
  • Identify and manage risks through structured assessments
  • Proactively support residents to overcome barriers to independence
  • Maintain high safeguarding standards and follow local procedures
  • Record all engagements, support plans and risk assessments in digital systems
  • Work collaboratively with partner services including mental health, substance misuse, criminal justice and community networks
  • Deliver 1:1 and group sessions to develop independent living skills
  • Manage a varied caseload and ensure consistent engagement
  • Provide non-judgmental harm reduction advice where required
  • Act as a positive role model, encouraging residents to set and achieve personal goals

 

Intensive Housing Management:

  • Support with referral processing and assessments
  • Assist residents with tenancy documentation and expectations
  • Manage rent matters and coach residents in financial responsibility
  • Provide guidance on budgeting, benefits and money management
  • Carry out regular accommodation checks and ensure health & safety compliance
  • Support residents in developing tenancy and independent living skills
  • Contribute to positive move-on outcomes

 

Successful Applicant:

  • Experience supporting individuals facing homelessness or multiple disadvantage
  • Background in accommodation-based services, tenancy management or housing support
  • Strong ability to work in a trauma-informed, strength-based way
  • Skilled in writing and managing support plans and risk assessments
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and practice
  • Comfortable working with complex behaviours in a non-risk-averse environment
  • Knowledge of best-practice approaches such as ACEs
  • Confident with digital systems, record-keeping and ICT
  • Excellent communication skills when liaising with partner agencies
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
